Happy Thursday! This week is flying by (possibly because we have a long weekend ahead of us). Happy first day of school to some of you!

I’m Lesley Salman, the brains (and beauty thanks to Ash Salon) behind Salman Home Realty and Going Gainesville. If you’re new here, Going Gainesville features fun things to do in and around Gainesville and Haymarket. From nightlife to kitschy places to grab a well-made cocktail, you’re guaranteed to find some interesting place you absolutely have to try that you’ve absolutely never heard of.

My co-host today may seem familiar to some of you local craft beer aficionados. Stacey Perry of Sinistral Brewing Company in Old Town Manassas has joined me to check out Public House Kitchen and Brewery!

We sat down with one of Public House’s owners, John Kibben, who is brewing up some great backstory to this amazing restaurant. Where do their amazing beers come from? They’re brewed in-house! Using a three-barrel system, they setup is a little smaller, but that’s because you can only find Public House beers at Public House!

What do they brew when? They have six tanks on-premise so they have multiple beers brewing at any given time – up to six at a time while also having them on tap.

What’s good? Here’s what’s on tap right now:

🍻 Junction Pilsner Pilsner – Light body, slightly hoppy, German-style Pilsner with a crisp finish and note of lemon drop hops on the end.
🍻 That’s Wit She Said Wheat Beer – A combination of Pilsner wheat and flaked oats, hopped with Hallertauer Hersbrucker and flavored with coriander seed and bitter orange peel
🍻 Purple Nurple Farmhouse Ale – Brewed with Pilsner and Acidulated malts. Hopped with Magnum and Mandarina Bavaria with blueberry puree added during fermentation

What makes Public House different? They host their street concert series all spring and summer long. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights are chock full of local bands adding some music to their local flavor.

Did you know Public House has an upstairs for private parties? From rehearsal dinners, holiday parties, and birthdays – it’s kind of a perfect place to host any event.

Well, we can’t talk about Public House without talking about their amazing food. Here’s what we tried:

🤤 Public House Poutine – Crispy fries loaded with cheddar cheese curd then smothered in our house-made gravy.
🤤 Spicy Tuna Tartar – Ahi Tuna tossed in a house-made sriracha mayonnaise, topped with sriracha and sesame seeds and served with sesame oil toasted pita bread.
🤤 The Junction Burger – Pork belly, over easy egg, fried onions, soy BBQ glaze. Served with fries.
🤤 Super C’s Fried Chicken – Chicken breast fried in our signature buttermilk batter, served with a side of smoked gouda mac & cheese.

To wash it down? A flight of their amazing house brews. Loved each and every one.

Definitely want to add this to the date-night list. Here are the details.
